Show your child one picture and say “what is she doing?” Your child should already know the name of the action that the person is doing. If not, go back and teach those first. Your child will probably say the action word without using the “-ing” on the end. Words: ding, king, ring, sing, wing, ping, zing, bring, sling, wring, cling, sting, fling, swing, thing, spring, awning, string, anything, something.
A WORD or NAME formed from the letters, usually the first letters, of several other words: BBC from British Broadcasting Corporation, NATO from North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It is a kind of ABBREVIATION, with two forms: the INITIALISM (BBC pronounced 'bee-bee-cee'); the ACRONYM (NATO, pronounced 'Nay-toe').
Examples of 50 sight words for kids are, each, are, at, the, but, be, do, did, I, his, he, it, if, in, him, her, how, have, had, has, for, find, this, that, those, these, she, was, were, will, who, we, see, so, people, no, not, may, my, now, very, two, than, there, their, like, long, just, little and out.
The “onset” is the initial phonological unit of any word (e.g. /c/ in cat) and the term “rime” refers to the string of letters that follow, usually a vowel and final consonants (e.g. /a/ /t/ in cat). Not all words have onsets
The key difference between regular and irregular nouns is that regular nouns are nouns that can be converted into their plural form by simply adding “-s” and “-es” to their end, whereas irregular nouns are nouns that do not follow a standard rule in converting plurals.
The words include: stamp, stapler, star, starfish, statue, steak, steam, stem, stick, stingray, stone, stool, stop, stork, strawberry, and stump.
Consonant blends are clusters of two or three consonants which appear together in a word. Each letter in a blend makes a sound and these sounds are then blended together. For example, in the word play, the p and the l must be blended together to read the full word.
