⁣They are the characters, setting, plot, conflict and resolution. These elements keep the story running smoothly and allow the action to develop in a logical way that the reader can follow. Retelling involves students orally reconstructing a story that they have read or has been read to them.

⁣Sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through a narrow p****ageway called the ear canal, which leads to the eardrum. The eardrum vibrates from the incoming sound waves and sends these vibrations to three tiny bones in the middle ear. These bones are called the malleus, incus, and stapes.

⁣1. Business Entity Principle

What It
Means: The business is treated as a separate entity from its owner(s).
The owner's personal finances are not mixed with the business's accounts.

Example: If you
own a bakery and use your personal savings to buy a car for yourself, it
should not appear in the bakery’s accounts.

2. Going Concern Principle

What It
Means: It ****umes the business will continue to operate for the
foreseeable future and won’t shut down soon.

Example: A
company buys a machine for $10,000, expecting it to last 5 years. Because
of this principle, the machine's cost is spread over 5 years, not recorded
as an immediate expense.

3. Historical Cost Principle

What It
Means: Assets are recorded at their original purchase price, not their
current market value.

Example: If you
bought a building 10 years ago for $50,000, it will still be recorded in
the books at $50,000, even if its market value is now $200,000.

4. Accounting Period Principle

What It
Means: Financial performance is reported over specific time periods
(monthly, quarterly, yearly).

Example: A
company reports its income and expenses from January to December as a
yearly accounting period.

5. Money Measurement Principle

What It
Means: Only transactions that can be measured in monetary terms are
recorded.

Example: The
business can record the purchase of a $2,000 computer but cannot record
the skill level of its staff, as it cannot be measured in money.

6. Consistency Principle

What It
Means: The business must use the same accounting methods over time for
comparability.

Example: If a
business uses the straight-line depreciation method for an ****et this
year, it should not switch to another depreciation method next year
without reason.

7. Prudence Principle

What It
Means: Always record expenses or losses immediately if uncertain but
recognize income only when it's certain.

Example: If a
company expects a $5,000 bad debt, it should record it immediately, even
if the customer hasn’t confirmed they won’t pay.

8. Matching Concept

What It
Means: Match expenses with the revenues they help generate in the same
period.

Example: A bakery
sells cakes worth $1,000 in December and spends $400 on ingredients in
November. The $400 expense should be recorded in December, not November,
to match with the revenue.

9. Duality Principle (Double-Entry Accounting)

What It
Means: Every transaction has two effects – a debit and a credit – and
both must balance.

Example: If a
company buys furniture for $500:

Debit:
Furniture (an ****et increases).

Credit: Cash
(an ****et decreases).

Summary with Analogy

Imagine a bakery:

The business
entity principle separates your bakery's finances from your personal
expenses.

The going
concern ****umes the bakery will keep selling cakes next year.

You record
the bakery equipment at its historical cost.

You
prepare income statements every month as per the accounting period.

You only
record measurable items like sales ($1,000) as per money measurement.

The consistency
principle ensures you always value leftover flour the same way each year.

If unsure
about a debt being repaid, you record a loss immediately as per prudence.

Expenses
for flour are recorded in the same month as cake sales to follow the matching
concept.

And
finally, every transaction (like buying flour) is recorded using duality.

These principles ensure accounting is accurate, reliable, and
standardized!

Cell Theory/ Part of a Cell Song. Here is a video I created for my 6th grade science students to help them study.I hope you enjoy.
Hook saw small rooms
Or pores, or Cells that look dividing
Inside all Cells
Organelles float in Cytoplasm

In all Plant Cells
The outside is a Wall

Around the Cell
Is like a skin the Cellular Membrane
Its job is to
Let particles go out, in, out, in

Chloroplasts help plants to capture energy
For Photosynthesis

Chorus

Looking inside Cells
They are the things that make up life
Cell Theory's amazing
Cells from other Cells
All living things
The whole world's made from basic Cells
Cell Theory's amazing
Cells from other Cells

The Nucleus
Is like the major control center
Nuclear Membrane
Has pores to only let in some things

Inside's the Chromatin
Genetic instructions

Nucleolus is a structure
Where Ribosomes are made
Protein is sent to the
Endoplasmic Reticulum

The Golgi Bodies package
The material
And send it around

Chorus

Mitocondria
Is a rod shaped powerhouse of the cell
It produces energy
For functions to carry out
Then there's Vacuoles
Storage for food and H2O
And then Lysosomes
That break food pieces down

All Living things
Are composed of cells
The basic unit
Cells from other Cells

Chorus

Looking inside Cells
They are the things that make up life
Cell Theory's amazing
Cells from other Cells
All living things
The whole world's made from basic Cells
Cell Theory's amazing
Cells from other Cells

Yeah!

The cl****ification system organises species into domain, kingdom, phylum, cl****, order, family, genus and finally species.

‘Kingdom is the second highest rank below the rank of domain in this sequence of cl****ification. It helps us to group, or cl****ify, species into different families so we can see how closely or not they are related.

Cl****ification attempts to impose a hierarchy on the complex and dynamic variety of life on Earth by describing how different species group together, and how related they are to one another or not.

There are 5 kingdoms: animals, plants, fungi, prokaryotes and protoctists. Each kingdom has chareristic features so that an organism can easily be ****igned to one of the kingdoms.

Animals are eukaryotic, multicellular and have no cell walls. They develop from a blastocyst (which is part of embryo development). They have both nervous and hormonal control systems. They are heterotrophic which means they eat stuff and have a digestive system. They are motile which means they move. Cell division, which enables growth, happens in tissues.

Plants are eukaryotic, and multicellular like animals. However, unlike animals they have cell walls, with cellulose in. They are autotrophic, which means they use photosynthesis to make their own energy from sunlight. Their growth is restricted to meristems - which is layers of dividing cells. They are non-motile, have a leaf gas exchange system and are waterproofed.

The Fungi kingdom are eukaryotes and can be multicellular like animals and plants but can also be unicellular such as yeast. They have cell walls like plants but have a substance called chitin rather than cellulose. They are heterotrophic and saprotrophic meaning they decompose - so they break things down, or are parasitic. The body of a fungus is composed of thin filaments called hyphae. And they secrete enzymes, do external digestion and then absorb the resulting nutrients.

The Protoctista kingdom are eukaryotes like animals and plants. They can be unicellular and multicellular, like the fungi. They have cell walls, sometimes with polysaccharides. They are autotrophic and heterotrophic.

The prokaryotes are unicellular, they lack the organelles that are seen in eukaryotes. They are typically really small: about 10μm in size. Much too small to see with the human eye. They have cell walls and they are autotrophic, using photosynthesis and chemosynthesis (without light) and they are heterotrophic. They divide by binary fission, not by mitosis.

So from this video you should know that Kingdoms break down into 5 groups (Prokaryotae, Protoctista, Fungi, Plantae Animalia), based upon different chareristics including whether they have cell walls, are eukaryotic or prokaryotic, and how they get nutrition.

⁣A genetic mutation is a change to a gene's DNA sequence to produce something different. It creates a permanent change to that gene's DNA sequence. Genetic variations are important for humans to evolve, which is the process of change over generations. A sporadic genetic mutation occurs in one person.

⁣Comprehension is the understanding and interpretation of what is read. To be able to accurately understand written material, children need to be able to (1) decode what they read; (2) make connections between what they read and what they already know; and (3) think deeply about what they have read.
